Welcome Plato Families
I am happy to be returning to Plato Academy and look forward to a great school year in Art class filled with FUN, CREATIVITY, and lots of Amazing Art!
About Ms. Nichols: I graduated in 2004 from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. This will be my ninth year teaching Art. A few of my favorite things include family, painting and kayaking.
The Art Curriculum by grade level
Lower Elementary School Art (Grades K-2) Students will engage in a range of art making experiences that explore the use of art elements and a variety of historical styles and art techniques.
Upper Elementary School Art (Grades 3-5) Students will continue to make fun art both 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional but now they will begin to ask the Big Art Questions (What qualifies as fine art? Who gets to make art? How does one assign value to art?) all while developing their own personal artworks and artistic forms of expression.
I consider it a distinct privilege to work with your child and welcome any thoughts, suggestions, questions or concerns. Please feel free to contact me at any time.
Sincerely,
Ms. Jacqueline Nichols
